The Ely Muslim Association once again feed Ely in a spectacular way on the Market Square.
Despite Football being on, hundreds of people turned out for the now annual Fasting Feast that the Indian restaurants around Ely arrange to show why they love being a part of our community.
Ely’s Mayor, Ian Lindsay came out to thank the restauranteurs and try the food that Muslims eat commonly during the fasting period of Ramadan when the sun has set. The food served was basmati, samosas, bhaji, dates and fruit salad.
Leaders of the Association, Muhammad Ali and Shiar Ahmed Choudrey explain why Ramadan is important to the Muslim religion and what it means to fast but also provide food to others during their holy month.
The restaurants involved are Sylhet, Balti King, Le Spice, Basmati, Thai Lounge, Indian Garden, Sutton Tandoori, Spice Lounge, Mango Valley and Market Street Brasserie.
