Neutral Ground for those in need at Ely's New Community Hub

Yesterday saw the launch of Ely’ new Community Hub at the Lighthouse Centre on Lynn Road.

The aim of the venture is to bring together all of the local agencies who can help the young and vulnerable without a referral system and prejudice.
On hand to assist were the creators of the idea, Sarah Burton & Angela Parmenter from the housing department ECDC and Zoe Cutter and Giles Cornell from the Lighthouse.
The agencies involved in creating the group include CHS Group, Citizens Advice, East Cambridgeshire Community Safety Group, CAP, Red2Green, Centre 33 and Inclusion as well the hosting agencies.

Many people at times do not know who to turn to when help is required, and the idea of the project is to get all the agencies in one place, once a week, so help can give there and then.
The centre will be open to the public with no requirement for an appointment every Tuesday from 11 am to 2 pm at the Lighthouse Centre. Refreshments will be available in the form of a cup of tea and biscuit.
Sarah Burton, Housing Officer for ECDC who created the idea, said: “Come along and see us but if you don’t want to come you can call any of the partners involved, and they will be glad to help and even arrange a home visit.”
