New Ventures at Little Thetford Acorns Pre-school

Changes are afoot at Little Thetford Acorns Pre-School (LTA) as they refresh their look, commence Forest School sessions* and look at offering wraparound care (extended hours) to local parents.
The well-recognised pre-school, situated in the heart of the Little Thetford community, but which welcomes children (aged from 2yrs & 5 months) from all over Ely and the surrounding area, now boasts a new logo. “With the introduction of our new Forest School sessions, we have decided to focus more on working with and learning about nature; our new logo is a representation of our garden’s native oak tree, which, according to myth, is ‘The Most Giving and Loving Tree’’”, says Zoe Corley, LTA manager.
This links in well with the brand-new Forest School sessions that started in January and which are led by their manager Zoe, a newly qualified Forest School leader. Every Monday morning, a small group of children (aged 3 and over) leave pre-school to experience the fun of the forest in an enchanting local woodland in the centre of the village.
“Forest School sessions don’t stop in the woodland, though”, continues Zoe. “The (Forest School) practice and theory will become an integral part of our ethos and we’ll incorporate it throughout all our weekly pre-school sessions. We are lucky enough to have a spacious garden and sensory garden where the children can run, play, build dens, create woodland art, whittle sticks and learn about nature, so all our children can have access to it”.
