Daybreaks
Spotted in Ely was pleased when asked to support Daybreaks and Cambridge Commodities to fulfil their mission that no child will go hungry in our region during the October half-term.
Throughout next week if you head down to Daybreaks and ask for a ‘child’s meal’ or a ‘young adult meal’ then you will be provided with lunch at no cost.
Both companies would love you to pop in to get your free lunches! Don’t forget to share with your friends; let’s end child food poverty together.
Since announcing the initiative, many other groups and organisations have contacted us to let us know they are doing things in the community to help children get food during this half-term. We have complied a list of them below. If you want your initiative adding below, email mark@spottedinely.com. Please remember, we only know about these initiatives if you tell us about them.
AAA Training – Littleport
Venue confirmed for Monday & Tuesday! Monday & Tuesday from 12.00 until 1.30pm St Georges Church. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 12.00pm until 1.30pm Littleport Village Hall. Free Hot Meals for any child within the Littleport area who need it. We will be providing take away for you to take home as well. We are hoping to have seating (covid compliant) for those that wish to sit and eat. Please ensure any family with children who would benefit from this service is made aware of the offer. Huge Thank you to our anon donor and to Littleport Rangers FC for their donations of £300.00 each to this cause! Huge thank you also to Rumbles Fish Bar in Littleport has donated free meals to help ensure these children are fed! They have also offered some take away containers to help. Also, Station Café has offered to help with plastic cutlery. Fantastic! We are still trying to source a large amount of containers for serving and taking the meals away so if anyone can help that would be amazing! Also to the amazing Ladies volunteering aid in cooking and serving and to Shane who has offered to go to the butchers for us! Please share this to everyone who would benefit! Claire’s Kitchen – Littleport
Following on from our free kids meal announcement I can share the menu below….This is for eat in, take away or delivery if required. Please don’t be embarrassed/shy if you need to contact us – message me (just comes to me) or call 07923227404. All deliveries will be made in non descriptive cars. Please do get in touch if you or someone you know is struggling…..we can help Menu: Fish fingers, chips/smilies with peas/beans Chicken dippers chips/smilies with peas/beans Kids burger & chips. Soup with bread & butter. Sausage & mash with veg Lunch box – sandwich, crisps, drink & cake. All meals come with a soft drink. Served 10 – 3pm everyday next week
Prospects Trust Unwrapped
Kids Eat Free!!!! The Prospects Trust strives to meet the needs of our co-workers daily, and over the last 31 years has adapted to meet the needs of individuals and groups whatever their situation. This week the Trust is continuing to reach out and meet a need within the community. Without the provision of free school meals this half term, The Prospects Trust is offering a free lunch to primary school aged children. Lunch will be offered from Unwrapped, from 11-2 each day to either sit outside and enjoy or take away. On behalf of the Trust, we will do all we can to ensure that kids don’t go hungry this half term.
Market Kitchen
June from Absolute Sense Financial Advisers in Ely is teaming up with the Market Kitchen in Market Street, Ely to support the ‘no child will go hungry this half term’ initiative. On any school day this week a free take away sandwich lunch for school children will be made available to as many children as possible. Call at Market Kitchen and speak to Sue for details of the set times to collect the packed lunches.
