No decisions have yet been made about the future of Ely’s minor injuries unit, Southeast MP Lucy Frazer says.
Ms Frazer last week attended a meeting set up by East Cambridgeshire District Council cllr Anna Bailey (Conservative, Downham Villages ward) to discuss the threatened units at Ely’s Princess of Wales Hospital as well as at Doddington and Wisbech.
Also present at the meeting were county and district councillors and representatives from the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Clinical Commissioning Group, which is responsible for making financial decisions about the NHS in our area.
Speaking afterwards, Ms Frazer said: “It was a constructive meeting and I was pleased to hear that no options have been ruled out.
“It is important however that we continue to liaise with the CCG and to impress on them how these services are valued by the public.
“I will be holding further meetings with them and will continue to press to ensure that we continue to have good local healthcare provision.”
• The CCG is holding a public meeting in Ely tomorrow about the future of the minor injury units and other outpatient services. It will take place from 6.30pm to 8.30pm at The Maltings, Ship Lane.
• There will be further meetings in Doddington Recreation Hall at 7pm on August 23 and Rosmini Centre, Wisbech, at 6.30pm on August 25.
