CAT Theatre Company to take Ely back to the 80’s!
CAT is hugely excited to announce that their spring musical will be…‘The Wedding Singer’! Based on the 1998 smash hit movie of the same name (starring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore) The Wedding Singer, set in the 1980’s, is an extravaganza of shoulder pads, glitter and big hair!
Director Amy Burrows said of the upcoming show: “I can’t tell you how excited I am to be directing this show. The plot stays fairly true to the original film, so if you loved the movie then I urge you to get involved. It’s a fast paced show with entire stretches of dialogue composed of titles of vintage songs and brilliant ‘80’s-style music which you’ll be singing along to for weeks afterwards. It’s funny, moving and simply put – a great couple of hours of entertainment. If I wasn’t directing it I’d be up there on stage myself, in fact I’m a little sad that I’m not!”
CAT Theatre Company have been entertaining Ely with musical theatre for almost 50 years. Their current show The Wizard of Oz has almost sold out a month before opening night, and this next production is set to be no different.
