Outpatients services at Ely’s Princess of Wales Hospital are safe for now – but the future of our minor injuries unit is still uncertain.
Yesterday Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Clinical Commissioning Group announced that Peterborough and Stamford Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has agreed to work with it to provide outpatients clinics at the Princess of Wales Hospital in Ely and at Doddington Hospital in Fenland from September 2017.
Until then Cambridgeshire Community Services NHS Trust will continue to provide outpatients services at the two hospitals.
Cambridgeshire and Peterborough CCG chief officer Tracy Dowling said: “Whilst there is still much work to do to agree the finer details, this is an excellent example of our local NHS working together as one system to deliver the important services our patients need.”
“We would like to take this opportunity of thanking the staff for their continued patience and for their continued commitment to their patients and for their hard work during this difficult period.”
The decision does not affect the future of three threatened minor injury units in Ely, Doddington and Wisbech.
A public meeting about the three units will take place at The Maltings on Ship Lane, Ely, on Tuesday, September 27, from 6.30pm to 8pm.
