PCSOs patrolling the vicinity of local schools attended St. Mary’s and St. John’s in Ely, and also Weatheralls School in Soham.
We’re greatful to parents who were so positive towards the PCSOs on duty.
In the full course of the patrol seven £30 penalty notices were issues and three traffic offence reports (TORs) were written.
A ‘TOR’ can result in a 3 point penalty and a £100 fine. The recipient will have to wait for the outcome to arrive through the post.
Our PCSOs will be deployed again tomorrow to other schools in the district and will continue to work their way around the area for the next two weeks.
PCSO Maria Robinson said “The parents, the teachers and the children were all really positive and supported what we were there to do. It’s clear that this is important to people – and it is about keeping the school children safe – so we’re going to keep it up. We don’t actually want to issue penalty notices – we just to improve the situation on the roads.”
