For the 11th year running, Babylon Gallery is hosting the East Cambridgeshire Schools’ Art Exhibition from Friday 10th to Sunday 26th January.
The exhibition was opened at a special launch party on 9th January, attended by the Mayor of Ely and over 120 children and their family members who came to see the work exhibited.
The exhibition is supported by Ely Hereward Rotary Club and its President, Christine Gascoigne, was there to announce the prize winners, from six key stages, ranging from children aged 4 to 18. Each prize winner received vouchers for art materials, donated by Tindalls Ltd and Ely Hereward Rotary Club. The winners were:
Foundation Stage: 1st Prize – Martha W, Mepal & Witcham Primary 2nd Prize – Freya H, Lantern Community Primary 3rd Prize – Jack, Littleport Community Primary
Key Stage 1: 1st Prize – Alice S, Littleport Community Primary 2nd Prize – Ella GR, Mepal and Witcham Primary 3rd Prize – Eli F, Lantern Community Primary
Key Stage 2: 1st Prize – Charles SP, Littleport Community Primary 2nd Prize – Zeynep D, Weatheralls Primary School 3rd Prize – Dainton Littleport Community Primary
Key Stage 3: 1st Prize – Eleana SQ, Soham Village College 2nd Prize – Freya A, Soham Village College 3rd Prize – Erin V, Ely College
Key Stage 4: 1st Prize – Meagen A, Ely College 2nd Prize – Milena J, Kings Ely 3rd Prize – Freya R, Bottisham Village College
Key Stage 5: 1st Prize – Justyna G, Ely college 2nd Prize – Mia Wang, Kings Ely 3rd Prize – Stella Wang, Kings Ely
The exhibition showcases the work of children from ten schools across East Cambridgeshire and includes drawings, paintings, textiles, photography, ceramics and multi-media work.
The schools are:
Bottisham Village College, Ely College, Kings Ely, The Lantern Community Primary School, Littleport Community Primary School, Littleport & East Cambs Academy, Mepal & Witcham Primary School, Soham Village College, The Weatheralls Primary School and Witchford Village College.
