Prostate Cancer UK Charity Football Match

Three local football fans are organising a Charity Football match in aid of Prostate Cancer UK.

Joe Maynard reached out to the hosts of the football podcast ‘Nothing to Lose’ to help him gather two teams to play one another with all proceeds going to Prostate Cancer UK, a charity that Joe supports.

Kurtis Mpundu and Ollie Cowan are behind the podcast and the pair recently interviewed Joe about why he wants to raise money for the charity. Maynard said ‘’It’s the most common cancer in men. More than 47,000 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer every year. I thought it would be a good idea to get everybody together to raise money for a special cause, and what ever way to do it than with a football match.’’ He added ‘’With a lot more emphasis on this charity we can make men more aware of the symptoms and the earlier they get checked the earlier it can be sorted.’’

The match will be hosted at Ely City Football Club on Friday 23rd July 2021 at 19:45. Those wishing to come along will be asked to donate whatever they wish, as well as a Just Giving page which has been set up for those who would like to kindly contribute online.

There is also a terrific opportunity to win some prizes. Lemon Tree Deli, Peonies & Palms and DUSK Empire have all very generously provided the event with some fantastic gifts that will be up for grabs with a raffle.
