Royal British Legion Seeks D-Day Veterans

The sixth of June 2024 marks 80 years since the D-Day landings, the largest amphibious operation in history which marked the beginning of the liberation of France and Western Europe.

As well as remembrance events in the UK, the Royal British Legion will be taking D-Day veterans across to Normandy, and is keen to identify those who might be interested.

Chairman of the City of Ely branch of the RBL, David Martin, said: “We hope publicity might identify some local veterans who are not known to us at the moment. Any veterans wishing to go with the Legion to  France needs to register via the British Legion website, or a relative or carer can register on their behalf.”

The website is: https://www.britishlegion.org.uk/get-involved/remembrance/rememberance-events/d-day/dday80

Registration is expected to close at the end of the month.
