A Total Wipeout style water park is expected to make a massive splash when it opens this spring, drawing thousands of visitors to Stretham.
Cambridge Aqua Park will open on the last weekend of April, Spotted in Ely can reveal.
The family-owned lakeside attraction, off the A10, will include a variety of inflatable obstacles, appealing to daredevils as well as those wanting a less challenging experience, manager Jess Hannam said.
“It can be as exciting or as tame as people want it to be. You can just climb onto the obstacles or go down the tallest slide.”
The hour-long sessions, catering for up to 60 people at a time, will be open to people aged eight or over.
There will also be morning sessions for kids as young as six, providing they are confident in the water.
Although life jackets and wetsuit hire is included in the £20 price, those taking part have to be able to swim to the inflatables, Jess said.
“We want people to feel comfortable in the water.”
She hopes Cambridge Aqua Park, on the same site as Hannam’s Wake Hub, will help put Stretham on the map, appealing to a wide cross section of visitors.
“I think we will get people coming from further afield for stag and hen do’s but hopefully it will give local people something fun to do as well.”
People will be able to book the park for birthday parties and other events, with special discounts available for group bookings.
The team had initially planned to open in May but thanks to a Cambridgeshire Fens LEADER grant to help boost local tourism and jobs, they’re opening ahead of schedule.
Jess and her team plan to test out the obstacle course before it opens to the public.
“I’m dying to have a go – it looks like so much fun!”
Cambridge Aqua Park will initially be open during weekends but throughout the summer holidays it will be open every day from 10am to 6pm.
It will close for the winter in late September.
