On 27th July, one of our followers on Instagram, Kim Mave, sent us some beautiful wild flower pictures she had found in Ely. The flowers are located where Kings School Grounds and the Ely City Golf Club meets.
The post soon started to get a lot of attention and just a few days later it hit a million reach and is still growing! Our first truly 1 million viral post! It’s now reached 1,609,182 people and is still growing!!

On the 12th August Spotted in Ely will celebrate its Birthday, 8 years on Facebook, and this is the icing on the cake, and an early birthday present!
We have had some very popular posts over the years. One that did very well, back in 2015, was when Ely Police station were collecting jewellery boxes for loved ones belongings to be returned to them, instead of using plastic bags. It was before the days of Facebook reach stats, but was shared 470 times.
This milestone is another fitting tribute to the page’s founder Mark Cooney. Alison Cooney said, “Mark loved looking at the stats in the background of our page, they often blew our minds! But this, this is a whole new level of viral content, never experienced before.”
Below are some of our most popular posts, “We love sharing our followers photographs and its clear that people from all over the world love seeing them as well.” Alison Cooney added.
Spotted in Ely has recently become a Community Interest Company Good Vibes Local CIC and is overseen by a board of trustees, who will help to keep the page and organisation running for the benefit of the people of Ely and its followers for years to come.
Remember, you can still buy Mark a Coffee here. All donations will help to keep the page running for our loyal followers.
