The beautiful Elephant Hawkmoth is so named as the caterpillar appears to have a trunk! Flying from May to August it is quite common but mainly seen at night.
However, if you have Honeysuckle in your garden, you may be lucky enough to see one at rest during the day. It can be found on grassland,hedgerows, gardens and woodlands.
