Well, quite a lot if February’s meeting was anything to go by!
With a(n almost!) full house, welcoming more new members, Ely City WI has certainly been busy…. and we are only two months into 2023!
Not only have members been actively contributing to raising awareness on the effects of climate change by showcasing crafted green hearts in the City (Sessions House on Lynn Road and inside Ely Library Foyer) but they have been busy making plans for International Women’s Day on 8th March too.
February’s meeting allowed Members to enjoy an inspirational talk by Jeanette Moser entitled “Everybody has a story to tell”. Enjoyable and uplifting we heard a lot about her background, travels, career, highs and lows. It certainly was a talking point during coffee time!
With other subgroup dates filling the calendar for afternoon teas, Diners Club and the newly launched Book Club; there is something for everyone to get involved with. Coming up we have plans for a Coronation Craft Bomb in Ely which is definitely something to get excited about.
President Sheila said, “we have had a really active year so far, with plenty more to come. Our WI is a great community, and we look forward to getting involved in many different things and all of the social events we run. If anyone is considering joining us, then do get in touch”.
Our next meetings are on March 13th headlined “My treasured life” where there’ll be a plant/ seed swap. April 17th you will be able to make a Coronation Wreath and on 15th May we will have a talk from Age UK. We meet 7.15pm at The Old Dispensary, St Mary’s Street, Ely, CB7 4ER.
