Ely City’s WI did something they’re becoming a bit renowned for to mark Remembrance Day this year.
A stunning display outside the old Courthouse and also on the railings of the Market Square features a countless number of handmade poppies to honour the fallen. The touching memorial is yet another offering from the group’s members who have been overwhelmed with positive comments about their display.
Sheila Willson, President said she, “could not be prouder of the fantastic efforts of our ladies. I am blown away by the enthusiasm of everyone who has been involved in this project to pay tribute to those who have lost their lives in conflict past and present”.
It has been wonderful to be involved in this special commemoration and representatives from Ely City WI will be present to lay a wreath at the memorial on Remembrance Sunday.
The displays will be up until mid-November so if you can, go and take a look!
If you would like to get involved with Ely City WI then we would love to meet you. A growing, friendly group we are always open to new members and you are more than welcome as a visitor to one or two of our meetings to see what we’re all about.
