The opposition started off the stronger side. Consistent possession led to Ely conceding two penalties early on with Wisbech converting both. Ely came back with a penalty of their own and just before the end of the half Charlie Coupland ran a storming line and slipped straight through the opposition defence, danced round three would be tacklers and dotted down under the posts.
In the second half Ely fought hard to get ahead, Coupland crossed again when the ball was fly-hacked through, he won the chase and dived to dot it down for a converted try. Wisbech were penalised for an offside infringement. Joel Scott Paul slotted the penalty to give Ely some breathing space. The Tigers then began to pile on the pressure and the opposition’s heads dropped. Man of the Match Jacob Muncey scored a brace, once from the back of a maul and the second from a Mitchell Kennett line break. The final score was from Matt McCarthy when the ball was passed through the hands, he darted around the last defender and converted his own try.
Final score – 41-6.
