Alisa has burst onto the scene and become the new face of 10is Academy after a breakthrough 2021.
The 16-year-old stunned fans at Ely TC’s championship as she embarked on a fairy-tale run playing three finals and winning two of them in her longest tennis day.
She did it the hard way.
In her first final, the Ladies singles, Alisa battled hard against the multiple winner and experienced players Karen Goodman and after 2 hours Alisa lost in 3 sets 4/6 7/6 3/6.
Minutes later she partnered Georgia to defend their Ladies Doubles title in a repeat to the previous final against Mary and Sylvia. It looked like it wasn’t going to be Alisa’s day after the 10is Academy pair lost the first set on a tiebreak. Alisa’s forehand wasn’t firing but Georgia displayed a mature play to keep them in the match. Alisa’s confidence in her forehand came back and after 3 hours, the girls retained their title. Final score: 6/7 7/6 7/6
But the day wasn’t over for Alisa. She had the mixed doubles to play with Tom against fellow 10is Academy players Ciara and Seb. Ciara won the Ladies Doubles plate earlier with Disa 6/1 6/0
Despite having already played for nearly 6 hours, Alisa played her best tennis in the last match as the fast pace suited her game. Alisa and Tom took a tight first set 6/4 but then Ciara and Seb displayed some scintillating net play to take the match to a third set. The two 10is Academy pairs were ready for a show down. A long game at 2-2 was the turning point with Tom being under pressure on his serve with 10 points going to deuce. Tom held his serve and the match was over… Final score 6/4 4/6 6/2
It has been a great day of tennis at Ely Tennis Club but there’s no time to celebrate as training will resume the following day.
If like Alisa you would like to shine, why not join our ladies team? We are looking for competitive players to join a hardworking and motivated team.
