CAN YOU CREATE THE PERFECT CHRISTMAS COCKTAIL?

​The luxury boutique Poets House Hotel, located in St Mary’s Street, Ely is calling all budding Mixologists from Ely and surrounding areas to take part in their Christmas Cocktail competition.

Two very experienced Mixologists, Vio Rujoiu and Daniel Flood, run the Study Bar at Poets House so they will be looking for some creative concoctions from entrants in order to be selected as one of the three finalists.
Originally from Bucharest, Vio considers himself to be a ‘Classic man’ when it comes to cocktails. “You have to be able to blend the perfect Champagne cocktail served on crushed ice,” he explains, “before you can start adding contemporary twists to the recipes. By understanding how flavours connect, using quality ingredients but keeping the recipe simple, you can create some memorable combinations.”
His colleague Dan has perfected his craft over the past three years under Vio’s guidance. “I am lucky in that I seem to have a natural instinct for mixing flavours and ingredients,” says Dan. “I love pushing the boundaries on the more traditional cocktails, adding variations to create something new. Both Vio and I are looking forward to seeing what recipes people send in to us to be judged as part of our Christmas Cocktail Competition.”
Both Mixologist get considerable satisfaction from interacting with their guests and being challenged to create something specific to suit an individual’s tastes. The duo also enjoy adding a sense of fun as they serve up some extraordinary cocktails and they are promising to devise some warm cocktails as the festive season fast approaches and the days and nights get colder.   

To take part in this exciting Christmas Cocktail Competition and win the chance to enjoy a masterclass with Vio and Dan at Poets House, simply send your recipe, including a name for your cocktail with a description, method and list of ingredients, together with your name and contact details to Reception@poetshouse.uk.com by the 30th October. The hotel will pick the top three cocktails and you will be invited to come along to Poets House on 10th November 2016 to meet Vio and Dan as they create your cocktail with you.
(Competition only open to amateurs and you must be over 18 years of age).
