City of Ely Amateur Swimming Club is celebrating the success of its first Open Mini Meet, held at the Hive Leisure Centre in Ely earlier this year.
The event welcomed more than 100 young swimmers from the Ely Barracudas, March Marlins, St Neots Swans and Mildenhall Sharks. For many of those taking part, it was their first experience of competing in a swimming gala.
Swimmers could enter up to five individual events before the meet concluded with a closely contested Squadron Relay involving ten swimmers from each club.
More than 100 spectators attended to support the competitors as they raced for medals, spot prizes and new personal bests.
The Ely Barracudas achieved more than 71 personal bests and secured 28 gold medals, 18 silver medals and 14 bronze medals.
The club thanked the visiting teams, team managers, volunteers, Hive Leisure Centre staff and Swim England officials who helped make the event possible.
Following the success of the inaugural competition, the club’s next Mini Meet will take place on Saturday 31 October 2026.
