City of Ely ASC is celebrating a successful return to county competition after a 2-year break.
Sixteen club swimmers competed over the three days of competition in Whittlesey, everyone performed brilliantly achieving personal bests, medals and some regional times.
Jorja Atkinson had an outstanding weekend. She was crowned top overall girl in the age 10/11 category which is a great achievement, she swam in 12 events and achieved 10 Gold (G) and 2 Silver (S) medals, also 11 personal best times (PBs) and a regional time (REG).
For many of our younger swimmers this was their first opportunity to compete at county level. In total the club achieved 14 Gold, 19 Silver and 18 Bronze Medals, with 13 new regional times.
Eight swimmers achieved new regional times during the county championships – congratulations to Jorja, Megan, Lexi, Amelie, Tia, Joshua, Oliver and Daniel.
A summary of the results achieved are:- Amelie Hawksley 2 G, 1 B, 1 REG; Megan Clarke 1 G, 2 S, 3 B, 2 REG; Daniel Kendall 1 G, 3 S, 3 B, 1 REG; Tia Hill 10 S, 3 B, 2 REG; Oliver Davey 2 S, 1 B, 1 REG; Joshua Black 4 B, 4 REG; Jacob Schultz 2 B, 3 events 3 PBs; Lexi Harrison 1 B, 1 REG; Jake Challenger 1 B; William Clarke 2 PBs; Robert Banwell 2 PBs; Annabelle Smith 2 PBs, Lola Carey 1 PB, Nathan Okoro 1 PB; Sarah Hardiment (5 events).
The event ran thanks to all the volunteers from across Cambridgeshire Swimming Clubs – a huge thanks to them for giving up their time. Families were not able to spectate in person however were able to watch the events via a Live Stream, swimmers were cheered on by their teammates, coaches and team managers.
