Ely1 faced opposition MI72 in a Division 2 fixture on Saturday. Building on a steady start, Ely1 continued to press their opposition in all four quarters, with neither side giving anything away in a tightly contested game, ending in a draw 33-33 and being Ely1’s third consecutive draw. Ely1 currently sit in fifth place of Division 2 after three games.
Meanwhile, Ely2 were delighted to take their first win of the season against Milton 3. After a slow start, it was the defensive duo of Emma Elsom and Sara Cunnington who took crucial interceptions to give Ely2 possession and the lead at half time. Third and fourth quarters saw a push from Ely2 all round to take the win 23-14. Ely2 currently sit in third place in Division 2 after four games.
On the next court, Ely3 faced Hawks3 in a Division 4 fixture. Ely3 greeted their opposition with a dynamic display at the attacking end and continued to hold off any counter-attack as their defence were quick to respond. An impressive all-round performance for Ely3 in their new division this season, ending in a draw 26-26. Ely3 currently sit in eighth place of Division 4 after two games.
Ely5 were also competing on Saturday against Burwell3 in Division 5. A strong start to the game with both shooting ends on target. Despite a strong team effort Burwell3 tipped the game into their favour taking the win 44-35. Ely5 currently sit in third place of Division 5 after three games.
There was no fixture for Ely4 this week, but they sit comfortably in fifth place of Division 5 after two games.
