Ely Rotary Club Hosts Tea in a Tent to Support Global Disaster Relief

Ely Rotary Club Tea in a Tent

Tea in a Tent Raises Funds for Global Disaster Relief

The Rotary Club of Ely hosted a Tea in a Tent fundraising afternoon at St Mary’s Church Hall on Wednesday 17 September, in aid of ShelterBox, an international disaster relief charity that provides emergency shelter and essentials to families affected by disaster and conflict.

Visitors enjoyed homemade cakes, sandwiches, and refreshments while learning how ShelterBox transforms lives around the world. Each ShelterBox contains a family-sized tent and a selection of items designed to help families survive and rebuild — including solar lights, water storage and purification equipment, thermal blankets, and cooking utensils.

The Rotary Club of Ely has supported ShelterBox for many years, donating several boxes to help people in crisis. ShelterBox was first launched in 2000 as a Millennium Project by the Rotary Club of Helston-Lizard in Cornwall and became a registered charity in 2003. It continues to be a powerful example of how communities can come together to make a global impact.

The Rotary Club of Ely welcomes new members who want to make a difference locally and internationally.
