Ely Choristers will be holding their traditional Pancake Races on Shrove Tuesday, 25th February.
This is long term tradition at Ely Cathedral but this year the girl choristers will join in the fun so for the first time there will be Boy v Girl Choristers pancake race.
Following the races down the Cathedral’s Nave, pancakes will be available for everyone as part of the Church Urban Fund’s ‘Big Pancake Party’ to raise funds and awareness for those who struggle to put food on the table; This includes children going to school hungry and parents who are sacrificing their own needs so that their children can eat an evening meal.
A Cathedral spokesperson commented that “Everyone is welcome to come along, watch the races and enjoy pancakes. We are pleased to support this campaign by The Church Urban Fund and hope that it encourages us all to stand up to food poverty in the UK – and have some fun in the process”.
The Chorister’s Pancake Race and Big Pancake Party takes place on Tuesday 25th February at 6.30pm. Everyone is welcome.
Entry is free but for catering purposes only please register for a ticket from Ely Cathedral Box Office – 01353 660349 or www.elycathedral.org
