Chinese Calligraphy & Tea at Ely Museum
Hello Ely!
I am Pauline. I host EarthGlow embodied experiences here in Ely, and I am hosting a Chinese calligraphy and mindful tea morning on Saturday 11 July at Ely Museum.
The brush responds to exactly the pressure, the speed, the attention you bring. Slow your hand, and your breath slows with it. The mind follows.
There is a traditional Chinese saying for the heat in summer โ ๅฟ้่ช็ถๆถผ. When the heart is still, coolness comes naturally. Not ice. Not air conditioning. Stillness.
This is a morning to practise exactly that.
We are halfway through 2026 now. A lovely moment to slow down with the heat and reflect – who am I becoming in the second half of the year…
Together we will write intention words for the months ahead, brushing them onto a paper fan you will take home. Something to hold the heat. Something to hold your intention.
Two hours of brush, ink and rice paper โ not to make perfect characters, but to notice what happens in the body when the hand moves slowly across the page.
We begin with cold-brew tea, served cool on a July morning, and settle into a warm ceremony as we work.
No experience needed. No artistic ability required. Just a willingness to let the brush be slow.
A small group of women ยท all materials and whole leaf tea included.
Our Hapa Zome & Tea morning filled every space, so do book ahead if this calls to you.
