Just three quotes from three of our cadets who flew for the first time today (Sunday 24th February) at RAF Cranwell in the RAF’s basic trainer aircraft the Tutor.
On Sunday, cadets from 1094 (City of Ely) Squadron joined with cadets and staff from our sister Squadrons at 511 (Ramsey), 1406 (Spalding) and 2430 (Holbeach) Squadrons in visiting RAF Cranwell the home of the Royal Air Force and number 7 Air Experience Flight.
The cadets all spent at least 30 minutes each in the air with the majority of the cadets flying for the first time but with others completing their progressive training syllabus and gaining their blue and bronze ATP Wings Badges.
The day started off in thick fog delaying the start of flying for the cadets. However, once the sun burned off the mist, the dedication of the 7 AEF ground crew and instructor pilots and escorting adult staff from each squadron shone through as they worked seamlessly together getting the cadets briefed, kitted out, and pre-flight trained.
Despite the delayed start to flying, every cadet was flown and even one of the escorting adult staff experiencing the thrill of taking control of an aircraft and performing aerobatic manoeuvres.
