Pupils at the Isle of Ely Primary School enjoyed their first sports day on Friday (17th July) with the help of a local supermarket.
Sainsbury’s in Ely donated a range of sports equipment for pupils to use on their sports day, including skipping ropes, bean bags, and tennis rackets.
Pupils are also using the equipment as part of their outdoor learning sessions.
Head teacher, Bryony Surtees said: “We would like to thank Sainsbury’s for their generous donation and helping to make our sports day go ahead.
“All of the children really enjoyed the day and were cheered on by their friends and family who were also invited on Friday.”
Store Manager, Steve Venters said: “Our store is at the heart of the local community and is important we can play our part to support it, so it’s great that we have been able to support this new school with their first sports day.”
The donation was made possible by Sainsbury’s community budget, which is funded by sales of the 10p bag for life.
Sainsbury’s also donated a hamper of fruit, including bananas, grapes and oranges, for teachers to hand out to pupils taking part.
