In October 1976, punk act The Sex Pistols signed with record label EMI, InterCity 125 trains were introduced between London and Bristol – and Little Thetford Pre-School opened its doors for the very first time.
The village pre-school will be celebrating its 40th birthday with a tea party this weekend – and staff hope to see as many familiar faces as possible from past and present.
Committee and staff members from Little Thetford Acorns Pre-School & Children’s Club hope to see former pupils, teachers, committee members and parents at their birthday party on Saturday, as well as its current community.
Over the years the pre-school has grown and evolved from offering short morning sessions and a toddler group in the village hall to now providing childcare from 7.45am to 6pm in a purpose built childcare building next door.
In 2010, after a lot of hard work, Little Thetford Pre-school finally achieved its dream by having its very own purpose built childcare building, designed to operate both pre-school and out of school club sessions as well as holiday clubs.
It was then that little Thetford Pre-school changed its name to Little Thetford Acorns Pre-school & Children’s Club.
The celebrations will take place on Saturday (September 3) from 2pm to 4pm at Little Thetford Acorns Pre-school & Children’s Club, The Wyches, Little Thetford, Cambs CB6 3HG.
The pre-school is hoping to prepare a display showing pictures and stories from its four decades, which will be shown on the day. If anyone has memories or stories please email admin@littlethetfordacorns.org.uk
