After two years of closure, artist Ted Coney is opening his pop-up gallery again on Ely’s Waterside from 24th April.
His guided tours, which last about an hour show some of the oil paintings he has been making over the last fifty years. All his pictures have their starting point in family life and although he is using his family for inspiration he views the theme as universal.
‘Visitors often say I am talking about their family ‘ says Ted. ‘ and as I often use objects instead of people in the paintings, the images don’t become too personal.
The tour ends in his studio to see his latest work in progress. The current painting is about a dream he had during Lockdown, escaping with his family from the pandemic. The tours usually take place on Sundays at 2pm and booking is essential at least 24 hours before the visit.
Ted usually takes six people at a time and more details about booking are on his website www.tedconeysfamilyportraits.co.uk
