Rugby Union: Ely Tigers v Norwich Crusaders

In the first ten minutes, the Tigers dominated possession and turned it into points through the boot of Joel Scott Paul, who slotted two penalties. Ely continued to run the show and man of the match Matt McCarthy scored after the backs ran a neat move that saw him run in a converted try.
Ely were then penalised in their twenty-two for an offside infringement, the Crusaders slotted the penalty to get themselves on the scoreboard. In the dying minutes of the the first half, the Ely forwards rumbled the ball up the pitch and were stopped short on the five metre line. The ball was recycled quickly and McCarthy ran a direct line to cut inside the defence for his second try.
In the second half Ely had a scrum in the opposition twenty-two, John Dibb, at number eight, picked and went down the blindside. A quick set of hands put McCarthy in for his hat-trick. Norwich Crusaders scored a like for like try to bring the final score to 25-8, Ely were unable to score the bonus point try.
