The Friendly Squadron gets Inspected

On Sunday 8th March, 1094 (City of Ely) Squadron were inspected by Central and East Region Commandant Group Captain Nigel Gorman and Warrant Officer Mark Giddings.

Having previously won the Walker Trophy for the best Squadron in Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire Wing The Squadron were honoured to represent The Wing as one of The Morris Trophy finalists from the six Wings across the Region.

After the inspection, the cadets broke into small interest groups delivering short presentations on a wide and varied range of activities and interests.

During his visit The Regional Commandant spoke with every cadet, every staff member and each member of The Squadron’s Civillian Committee.

The whole day was a celebration of the cadet experience and Ely’s reputation as “The Friendly Squadron”.

With the inspections of all four finalists now completed we await The Regional Commandant’s decision but come what may the whole Squadron really enjoyed his visit and were honoured just to be in the final four and receive their Morris Trophy Certificate.

Good luck to the other finalists: 163 (Coventry Phoenix) Squadron, 2222 (Brigg) Squadron, and 301 (Bury Saint Edmunds) Squadron.
