A group of city and district councillors this week finally collected the keys to the Centre E building on Barton Road after near demolition.
Heading the group, Councillor Elaine Griffin-Singh said, “We finally have the keys which means we can really now sink our teeth into getting a real centre in Ely for our Youth.
“The hard work begins now and the centre really needs some TLC and we hope to find some local people and businesses to help us make the centre more modern for our community”.
The plan for the building is to convert it into a full time drop in centre for local youths to get involved in activities or seek help when needed. There are already lots of activities and organisations using the site and they are asked to stay and help build on the establishment.
