Yesterday, our Year 9 students attended the ‘Eyes on the Prize’ event at Anglia Ruskin University.
The event, run by the University Schools Engagement Team, aimed to raise students’ aspirations making University accessible to everyone.
The morning started with a tour of the campus with an undergraduate, the first time for most of our students at a university campus. Students attended a talk about the broad spectrum of courses on offer and heard first-hand from an undergraduate about studying at university, living away from home and the reasons they had chosen to go. Our students were also able to ask some interesting questions and were reassured about funding.
The year group then attended a Careers Fair and were able to talk to representatives from local post 16 providers, employers and universities, obtaining information and asking questions. The visit was a valuable opportunity for students, helping them to make positive choices and look at all the options available to them after school and college. One of our students said, ‘I thought it was a really interesting visit and made me think about the choices I may have.’
