The 62nd Soham Carnival and Heavy Horse Show was yet again another major success with an even bigger attendance than last year lining the streets and entering the Soham Recreation Ground.
The day started early with competitors bringing their amazing super-sized horses along with foals. One just 5 weeks old but already the size of a full grown pony. In all they competed in over 30 classes throughout the morning.
Despite the overcast weather, the afternoon kicked off with the long carnival parade seeing lots of floats from the schools and youth organisations from Soham. The winning float was named “Rumble in the Jungle” belonging to Soham Playgroup.
Thanks to the amazing work by Blueshed, the music line up was fantastic. Kicking off with 4 piece band Summerland, followed by Michael Antony, Machine Shed and the finale of Akimbo.
Interludes on stage by KD Productions giving us songs from their Aladdin performance. Viva Music and Theatre Group also came on to promote Avenue Q, their muppet based musical coming up in the next few weeks. For more information click here.
The usual car show was ever present with some awesome looking classic cars from a Ford Fiesta XR2 to a classic Austin 7.
There was also displays from MSI Wolf Stunt Show, NSARDA Dog Search & Rescue, Soham Comrades Band, ACF Marching Band, Fenlander Majorettes and Sammy Magic Magic to name but a few.
