Wednesday 8th July saw the Maltings in Ely come alive to the sound of a host of excellent local musicians.
The event was the Isle of Ely Arts Festival Band Night and featured the talents of Josh Aitken, The Fakers, The Famous Living Dead, Crooked Caesar, Columbia and Once Awake. The performers came from all across the Isle of Ely area including Witchford, Ely, Littleport and Soham.
Josh Aitken opened the show with his mesmerising blend of guitar loops, percussive beats, hip hop raps and even a touch of folk.
The night was rounded off by the intense and intoxifying hard rock of The Famous Living Dead delivered with passion and precision.
The show was organised by ADeC (Arts Development in East Cambridgeshire) and was run entirely by the young ADeC Arts Crew who managed the lights, sound, box office, announcements, promotion, stage management, photography and venue layout. Nathan Jones of ADeC said. “It was a fantastic evening. I was blown away by the quality of the music and the Arts Crew ran the show smoothly and professionally; I’m very proud of all involved.”
The public response was overwhelmingly positive with calls for other band nights in the future.
