Break the Rules a Hit at School!

Crazy hair? Don’t care! Squash or juice? You choose! Temporary tattoo? Here’s to you! Unhealthy snack? Don’t hold back!

Rebels and rule followers alike relished the chance to go wild at the Lantern Community Primary School’s first ever Break the Rules Day today (Friday 1st October).

Kids at the Ely school were encouraged to wear non uniform, sport bonkers barnets, bring unhealthy snacks and paint their nails all the colours of the rainbow if they so desired – in exchange for a tombola prize donation.

The ‘funusual’ fundraiser took place ahead of a charity tombola at Ely Market tomorrow (Saturday 2nd October), organised by Friends of the Lantern School (FOTLS).

FOTLS chair Andrea Roose said: “We felt like doing something a bit different this time – so Break the Rules was a really fun way for the kids to let loose after a couple of challenging years. The staff have all got behind it too.”

Mrs Roose added: “The charity market stall is FOTLS’ first charity fundraiser since the first lockdown. We have some really fabulous prizes to be won and are so excited to be raising money again for our wonderful school.”

Every penny raised by FOTLS goes towards improving resources for The Lantern Community Primary School and Goslings Pre-School.

Come along to the FOTLS charity stall at Ely Market tomorrow between 8.30am and 3.30pm and have a go at the tombola! There are fantastic prizes to be won!
