The annual Cambridgeshire Community Fair is now only four weeks away. The Fair, organised by local charity, Cambridgeshire ACRE, is taking place on Tuesday 7 June 2016 at the Burgess Hall in St Ives. The event is completely free of charge to attend and will be run from 2pm – 6pm. No booking is required – just turn up on the day.
The event is aimed any anyone who lives or works in Cambridgeshire who wants to get more involved in community life. You might already be involved via your parish council or volunteer locally or you might just be wishing you could get more involved but don’t know where to start.
On the day there will be Community Stars on hand to share their knowledge and support other into volunteering – our community stars are all local people who volunteer in their communities in a wide variety of ways, why not come along and meet Zoe Davison who runs Ely Soup, or Gary Gardner from Rotary Club of East Anglia we have many more stars who all have some incredible knowledge and experience to pass on to other who want to start a project in their own community.
There will also be a marketplace of over 65 stalls from voluntary and community sector organisations, funders, local authorities and other local programmes, projects and groups. Stallholders will set out what they can do to help communities and will be very willing to help people with ideas to explore.
With just 4 weeks to go before the big day, Cambridgeshire ACRE’s Chief Executive, Kirsten Bennett said:
“We’re so excited to be organising Cambridgeshire Community Fair again this year. The Fair will bring together communities with those who are ideally placed to help them with their community projects. We are especially grateful to our Community Stars for giving up their time to be with us on the day to help others”.
