Celebrating Community and Urban Development in Ely 1949-2019

On Saturday 6th July residents from Ely had a ‘Tea Street Party’ to celebrate 70 years of Mayfield Close.

Margherita one of the organisers of the event told us, “What a tremendous day was spent with our fantastic neighbours! Gorgeous people, lovely food and a very special visit.

Thank you to the Mayor of Ely for joining us! Mr & Mrs.Cricks who are the oldest living residents in the Close cut the delicious cake prepared by Pauline and are overlooked by Tiberio John who is the youngest in the close.

Diane helped them as she is the longest living resident in the close; she was born here! Maureen, Martine, Diane and Sue have been fantastic with setting it all up with yummy sandwiches, quiches and pies.

The boys helped with setting up gazebos and tables. Umberto John and myself worked on the decorations! Everybody enjoyed the celebration, the weather was perfect. We will all treasure this beautiful day.

I was the youngest in the planning committee and I loved every minute I spent organising this event with those beautifully wise and very humble ladies, Thank you!
