East Cambridgeshire’s young creative writers were awarded with prizes on Saturday 4 July in a ceremony at the former Magistrates’ Court.
Judges Pippa Goodhart and Julian Sedgwick spoke highly of the superb standard that each of the young writers had achieved during Ely 501’s first year. In the 6 to 9 age group there were three overall winners: Charlie Colledge, Harry Marsham and Chloe Warren. In the 10 to 13 age group the winners were Ben Coney, Jessica Lonnen and Susannah Lowes.
Ben Coney and Harry Marsham were awarded trophies for their outstanding contributions and all sixteen winners received gift vouchers from the competition’s sponsors Burrows Bookshop and Mr Simms Ely.
The book of Ely 501, containing all the winners’ entries, is now available from Burrows Bookshop and plans are currently in preparation for next year’s event. Further details will be available from Burrows Bookshop.
