eGYM – A new fitness lifestyle for busy people

If your are like me scared of visiting the gym then you can find a new non-intimidating way to exercise in the form of eGym at the Atrium Club on Newnham Street in Ely.
The newly installed eGym is only the second in UK to be installed but has proved highly successful in parts of Europe and set to grow substantially throughout Britain.
To busy to go to the gym? Well that is no excuse any longer as a circuit takes just 30 minutes. You don’t need to set up every time you visit as the new clever technology knows who you are and sets up the 8 different pieces of equipment for you.
AtriumAnigifI was invited by Matt Bradney, owner of the club to try the new equipment ahead of the official launch this coming Monday and I have to say, its so simple to use. After my initial visit and set up with a trained fitness expert on the equipment, I was left to exercise in time with the equipment.
Not only can you see what to do on screen, you can also download an app to your Android or iPhone and monitor your progress either alone or as a group of friends. Furthermore, the Atrium staff can monitor your progress and after each session can manually adjust to suit you.
Having had an accident back in 1991, I have always struggled with my shoulder but the cloud based software has identified that my issue isn’t my shoulder but my back which isn’t as strong as expected and adjusted exercises to help strengthen that region of my body.

The eight self-service units are:

  • Rowing – Seated Row
  • Chest Press
  • Lat Pull
  • Shoulder Press
  • Leg Extensions
  • Leg Curls
  • Leg Presses and
  • Abdominal Crunches.

Each exercise is just 60 seconds and you simply follow the white dot on the screen to complete the 15-20 repetitions.
After just 3 sessions I do already feel a little fitter and better within myself and after 6 sessions of just 30 minutes I look forward to redoing my strength tests and see if I have improved before advancing further into the training.
We have added a few documents below for you to download but if you want more information pop into the Atrium Club and see Catherine who is the person responsible for the area of the gym or call 01353 668888.
