Are you a charity in need of free exhibition space?
If so, Ely Station may have the answer, thanks to a new scheme launched by Greater Anglia today.
The rail carrier is opening up empty spaces in stations to local communities, with Ely, Cambridge and Cambridge North stations among 20 to offer short term, temporary exhibition or event spaces free of charge for non-profit making organisations.
Nearby Shippea Hill and Lakenheath stations are among a number of smaller stations with properties available to lease to companies on a not for profit basis. Most of these rooms, offering “small community space”, would need some remedial repairs.
Greater Anglia’s corporate affairs chief Jonathan Denby said: “We’re passionate about the positive role the railway plays in the region and we’re looking forward to strengthening that role by increasing the part our stations can play in supporting local communities.
“Our new community stations scheme will offer up existing space for community use at some stations. This is already happening at some of our stations and we are looking to extend that approach across the network.”
