Could you go from the sofa to a marathon in one year? Yes you can!

Sam & FamilyThis is exactly what Soham mum Sam did, and all for a cause close to her heart. When Sam’s daughter Evie required major skull surgery at one year old, the family stayed in a Ronald McDonald charity house actually inside the specialist children’s hospital. The family were a 90 second lift ride away from Evie’s bedside and the provision was free of charge thanks to the charity.

While there, Sam met many families who were under enormous pressure with incredibly unwell children. This charity alleviated much of the financial stress of having a child in hospital long term and allowed families to stay together.

So when Sam got bitten by the running bug after finishing the ‘Couch to 5K’ programme, she decided to set the ultimate goal! She signed up to run the London Marathon and to fundraise £2500 for the Ronald McDonald House Charity. Now with the last couple of months of training ahead, Sam is up to 20 mile runs and the fundraising is in full swing.
