Out of sight, out of mind, is the message from police to residents, following a couple of burglaries in East Cambridgeshire recently in which tools left on the premises were used to help the crooks gain entry.
In both cases, ladders were used to access open windows upstairs.
On their Facebook page, Policing East Cambridgeshire said: “It is not uncommon for burglars to improvise using tools left laying around to break into a property.
“The best way to defend against this is to make sure that when you are finished using these tools then to lock them away in a shed or garage where they are not within easy reach of any would be burglar.”
Anyone with information about a suspected crime can call 101.
