New traders and exciting activities announced for the 2019 Christmas Gift & Food Fair

Widely acknowledged as one of East Anglia’s exceptional Christmas shopping experiences, Ely Cathedral are preparing for the popular Christmas Gift & Food Fair with some exciting new additions for 2019.

Several new traders will make up over 100 handpicked stalls located inside Ely’s magnificent medieval nave. Amongst those to catch your attention as you browse are Dittany Rose (Funky Jewellery), The Speculating Rook (Interior Accessories), Hunt and Feather (Unusual Gifts), and The Bookbinders (Contemporary Stationary). The ever popular Festive Food Hall will be packed with artisan suppliers from across the region offering plenty of tempting treats for your Christmas larder including delicious produce from cheesemongers, distillers of gin, vodka and other winter warmers, specialist charcuteries, chocolatiers and purveyors of jam, pickles, spices and oils.

There are several free demonstrations taking place over the event.  New this year is Katie Haydn-Slater, who runs Wild Oak Workshops, and who will be sharing her skills on how to make a Christmas Wreath using locally harvested spruce and deliciously scented festive foragings.  For those wanting to perfect their Christmas wrapping skills, Retail Stylist Kim Smart, will be demonstrating clever techniques and tricks to transform the simplest gift into something spectacular.

As always the Christmas Fair is about enjoying time with family and friends. The beautifully restored Victorian carousel will be located on the Cathedral green providing nostalgic rides on an original fairground horse.  Those wanting to get into the Christmas spirit can enjoy a glass of something festive from the Mulled Wine & Fizz Bar. Hungry shoppers can choose from a great selection of gourmet food vendors including Verrechia Crepes, The Raclette Sisters, Norfolk Hog Roast and The Rural Coffee Project serving their delicious artisan coffee and home- made cakes from a vintage Landrover.

Once again the opening times have been extended so visitors can enjoy the Ely Cathedral Christmas Gift & Food Fair experience at their leisure.

Ely Cathedral Gift & Food Fair runs from 14th – 16th November 2019. To book tickets visit www.elycathedral.org or contact the Cathedral Box Office on 01353 660349
