The end of and era last week when we heard the sad news that Ely Soup was closing it’s doors.
Ely Soup has provided organisations in Ely a voice and funding to help unique projects including Talking FreEly, Thera East Anglia and R.A.S.E. (Riding And Skating Ely) to name a few.
A message from their Facebook page reads:
Ely SOUP was launched in 2016 and since then we have hosted 7 SOUPS, supported 26 Ely organisations and raised £2,125
Sadly all good things must come to an end, and we are bidding farewell to Ely SOUP.
Why? You may shout! Members of the key volunteer team have some personal exciting changes happening in 2019, which means we’re not able to commit the time to the project anymore.
At the last SOUP we ran a raffle, we have donated the money raised to Babylon Arts who will be using it towards their forthcoming eel making workshops for Eel day and Littleport & Ely Timebank who will be using the funds to grow their work in Ely.
The Ely SOUP team have had a SOUPer time hosting these events, and we want to say thank you for all the support we’ve received and for everyone who has attended an event.
This is why Ely really is a great place to live.
Farewell
The Ely SOUP team
Ely Soup also thanked Spotted in Ely: “You were an integral ingredient to the success. Thank you for all your support, raffle donations and shout-outs!!
We wish those involved good luck with their new personal exciting changes in 2019. We will miss the amazing soup and the support you provided to the Ely community.
