East Cambridgeshire District Council (ECDC) will be supporting a business forum organised by Sutton’s Parish Council on the 19th May 2016.
The Parish Council is working on a joined up Neighbourhood Plan to help shape important developments across Sutton and the local area. Key to this is consulting with its business community to understand their needs and future plans.
To achieve this, business owners and representatives from organisations within Sutton’s local economy are invited to join in the consultation. The Neighbourhood Plan Working Party would like to hear about current issues of running a local business, as well as related factors that may influence future business development.
This may, for example, include direct business support, infrastructure improvements such as broadband, transport, utilities, skills availability or more generalised planning.
District Councillors Lisa Stubbs and Lorna Dupre both represent the area and are leading the events organisation, which is also open to the views of employees.
Councillor Stubbs said. “Our objective is to formulate future policies that support business development in the Sutton area and link with the local community and wider economy of East Cambridgeshire”.
Councillor Dupre added that “It is also important to understand what employers and their organisations would like us consider to make Sutton an even better place to locate a business”
The organisers have also invited Enterprise East Cambridgeshire, which is the Local Authority’s economic development team, to attend. Representatives will be at the event and on hand to discuss issues such as grants, apprenticeships and other business related support www.enterpriseeastcambs.co.uk
In addition, specialists from the Greater Cambridge Greater Peterborough, Local Enterprise Partnership and the Skills sector will be available to give advice.
The venue is the Cheffins Machinery Auction Barn on the Elean Business Park Sutton and has been timed to coincide with the lunch period to avoid business disruption. 19th MAY 12.00-2.00 pm.
