The road to Hull is now becoming a regular trip for Ely District/B&T Motor Repairs Cycling Club member, Matt Eley, and this weekend saw a fruitful one aswell, taking part in the SSLL Racing Team event on the V718 course, Eley posted a time of 19 minutes 28 seconds over the 10 mile course, a time that was good enough to beat his own club record of 19:43 set on the same course at the end of August, not to be out down on the records, partner, , produced a time 22:09, again a time that beat the ladies club record, previously, 22:56, set by Rust on the same course, back in July, the record breaking time also saw Rust finish as second quickest lady on the day, the event was won by One Pro Cycling Limited’s, Marcin Bialoblocki, who winning time was 16 minutes and 35 seconds.
Closer to home saw the VTTA 10 on the E2/10 along the A11 at Six Mile Bottom, riders taking part were, Martin Holmes, 22:21, Derek Ricketts, 22:49, Will Shepherd, 23:27 and Gred Ellsmore, 26:30, who was taking part in his first Open event, the afternoon produced distance PBs for Holes and Ellsmore, while Ricketts and Shepherd produced PB’s on the E2/10 course.
Sunday saw the action turn to mountain bikes with club member taking part in the Revel Outdoors Shouldham 6 Hour Enduro hosted by Kings Lynn MTB Club, in the Pairs event, Geoff Brewster and Rob Johnson finished in 15th place, completing 8 laps in the 6 hour period, while the club entered two teams in the Team Event, with the team made up of Paul Harbinson, Mark Mathews and Gary Fleet, finished in 8th place, completing 9 laps in the allocated team, while Martin Holland, Cliff Loveday and Mikie Burrell finished in 9th place a lap behind their fellow team members. While Gordon Hollingworth competed in the Solo event where he finished in 27th place.
Also in action over the weekend was Melvyn Cornwell, who was taking part in the Weymouth Ironman, competing in three events, a 2.4 mile swim in Weymouth Bay, followed by 112 miles on a bike, and to finish a 26.2 mile run, Cornwell finished in a time off 12 hours and 40 minutes.
