ANALYSER ENGINEER (ONLINE ANALYSER SPECIALIST)
LOCATION: Ely, Cambridgeshire
POSITION TYPE: Full-time, permanent
HOURS OF WORK: 0900-1700 Monday to Friday
We are seeking an experienced Analyser Engineer with specialism in online analyser systems and sampling, to work in the Oil & Gas industry sector.
This lead role will require candidates to support the Sales team providing technical solutions for a wide range of industrial online analytical measurements and sampling. Functions will include selecting analytical technology and advising on specialist suppliers during the proposals stage. Further, supporting the Engineering team; providing knowledge of industry compliance and international standards, as well as detail design guidance during project execution.
Main duties include:
•Review applications to determine best approach to solve industrial analytical problems to ensure the most appropriate and cost-effective technical solutions
•Work with the Proposals team to ensure that the optimum product and system design is quoted to the potential customer, taking into account selection of technology, most economical layout, process requirements, customer-imposed space restrictions and maintenance requirements
•Write test procedures and conduct analytical FATs
•Review and interpretation of customer specifications and national & international standards, and ensure that best industry practice and Health, Safety & Environmental considerations are applied and adhered to
•Be part of design reviews, both mechanical and instrument, during project execution
•Attend key meetings such as sales meetings, bid clarifications, handovers, design reviews and close-outs; both in-house and with the customer
•Continuously improve procedures and working practices.
Candidates applying will preferably have a minimum of 10 years’ previous online analyser experience, gained practically as well as design-based, and will be able to demonstrate a wide application knowledge of online & offline analysis and related industrial sample systems.
An MSc or BSc in Chemical, Electrical, or Instrumentation & Control discipline or equivalent educational level would be preferred, however, sufficient relevant experience in a similar environment is mandatory.
This position is autonomous in nature and as such, self-motivation and a high degree of maturity and responsibility is required, as are good communication and interpersonal skills.
Having up-to-date knowledge of online analyser systems and sampling & analysis related to Gas and Liquid Fiscal Metering systems would be a key advantage.
This position commands a high degree of problem-solving, of both a technical and commercial nature, combining personal perceptions, technical knowledge and analytical skills. Judgement is required to select appropriate products and sampling technologies, in order to minimise risk and maximise benefits for both the customer and company.
Other highly desirable skills include: technical sales experience, Hydrocarbon Metering (Sampling & Analysis).
Whilst this role is predominantly office-based, some worldwide travel will be expected.
