Join Ely Museum at our volunteer recruitment day on Saturday 28th March, from 11:30am – 3pm at the Old Dispensary on St Marys Street to learn more about the volunteer roles on offer and see how you can get involved as we create an exciting new museum in Ely.
We are particularly keen to recruit more event volunteers to help us at our range of activities and events this spring & summer. Events will take place in Ely and in villages throughout East Cambridgeshire.
Volunteering at Ely Museum is also a great way to be involved in our exciting National Lottery Heritage Fund supported project, where you’ll learn new skills, meet new people and help us shape the future of Ely Museum.
In January 2019, Ely Museum was delighted to announce that we had been awarded a National Lottery Heritage Fund grant of £1.66 million for the Unlocking the Potential of the Old Gaol: Ely Museum Redevelopment Project. Thanks to money raised by National Lottery players, the project will rejuvenate Ely Museum and make it a fantastic destination for local people and visitors to the area.
Alongside the National Lottery Heritage Fund grant, the museum has received support from a number of local and national trusts and foundations, East Cambridgeshire District Council, City of Ely Council, and has been delighted by the donations and enthusiasm of local people.
Now Ely Museum’s ambitious £2.2 million project is in full swing and the building work is taking place! Without a museum for people to visit, we’re bringing our activities, events and collections out to visit them. We need your help and enthusiasm to make it happen!
Whilst we’re particularly keen to welcome new event volunteers, there are also a variety of other roles on offer, so please pop in on Saturday 28th March to find out more about our award-winning volunteer team.
Museum Community Engagement Officer, Emily Allen said; “Our brilliant team of volunteers have been instrumental in our project so far! From helping us to pack up our collection, educate and enthral hundreds of children and bring fun, hands-on activities to many hundreds more – now is a great time to get involved at the museum. Do pop along to our event on Saturday 28th March to find out more!”
