We need you!

Viva Arts & Community GroupVolunteers needed to be involved in new HLF Project

After the success of Rich Soil Rich Heritage, Viva is now launching a new HLF funded project Street Life 1939 – 1945.
The idea behind the project is to give the people of today a bridge to the people who lived and worked in their towns (possibly even their own houses) during the War. The towns we will be focusing on are Soham, Chatteris, Ely and Littleport.
Volunteers will research their townscape using archives, local history groups, local museums to create pop-up heritage experiences that will appear in each of the towns at public events, sheltered housing and schools. You will also be trained in areas such as archival research, photo research, fieldwork, photography, oral history interviewing, editing and transcribing.
We are holding three launch events for volunteers:
Chatteris Library – Wednesday 26/08/15 2-4pm
Soham, Lodeside Hose- Saturday 12/09/15 10am-12pm & 2-4pm
Ely & Littleport, Ely Museum – Tuesday 18/09/15 7.30-9.30pm
We would love to see as many local people at our events as possible! If you would like to attend call/email Sam Massey our Community Engagement Coordinator on volunteers.streetlife@gmail.com or call 01353 722 228. Refreshments will of course be provided.
We are hoping for lots of community involvement in this project so make sure you get in touch.
